On Tuesday, a woman was dragged off of a Southwest Airlines flight after she demanded that two dogs be removed due to her severe allergies. According to BuzzFeed, there were two dogs onboard a Baltimore flight en route to Los Angeles. One of them was an emotional support animal, while another was a pet. Due to the fact that the woman did not have a medical certificate that proved it, Southwest personnel could not take action to remove the pet.
A statement from the airline said:
“Our policy states that a Customer (without a medical certificate) may be denied boarding if they report a life-threatening allergic reaction and cannot travel safely with an animal onboard.”
Due to repeated attempts to explain the situation to the passenger, law enforcement became involved in the situation.
Southwest ended up apologizing to the woman for the situation:
“We are disheartened by the way this situation unfolded and the Customer’s removal by local law enforcement officers. We publicly offer our apologies to this Customer for her experience and we will be contacting her directly to address her concerns.”
I mean, at least it wasn’t Delta again.
