Stevie Wonder calls Kanye West’s remarks about slavery ‘foolish’

Kanye West has had his share of controversies and this time Stevie Wonder called him out for saying slavery is a choice, Wonder called the idea “foolishness”.

West made a remark in an interview with TMZ saying, “When you hear about slavery for 400 years, for 400 years, that sounds like choice.”

After making these statements he did not back down and defended them on Twitter, even after receiving a lot of criticism.

Wonder talked about West’s remark during an interview after a show at a West Hollywood club on Thursday.

Wonder said, “There’s been a lot of talk about what was said by Kanye, I want people to understand that the truth is the truth and a lie is a lie.

“We all know that slavery was not a choice. So I just think that people need to understand that if you know your history, if you know the truth, you know that’s just foolishness.”

Wonder also compared slavery to the Holocaust making it clear that saying slavery was a choice was like saying the Holocaust was fake.

Wonder was very calm in his approach and said he felt bad for West, particularly because he had lost his mother due to cosmetic surgery procedures in 2007. He said, “You know he lost his mother, the horrible thing that happened, I don’t know if he had a chance to really mourn about all that.”
