Looks like Nintendo is Super Mario Run-ing all the way to the bank.
(Yes that was a Hillary Clinton youth pandering level joke but it worked!)
According to analytics firm Apptopia, the game was downloaded 2.85 million times within the first 24 hours of it’s launch… and counting.
According to The Verge, these numbers beat out summer craze Pokémon Go, which was downloaded 900,000 times in its first day, thanks to data provided by Apptopia. Though, these numbers might not be the best to compare, as Super Mario Run launched globally on it’s first day, while Pokémon Go started in only a few select countries.
Both games are free to download, but Super Mario Run has a single in-app purchase of $9.99 in order to unlock the entire game, while Pokémon Go lets players purchase in game items with real money if they don’t have the time to search for them.
