Netflix shows run the streaming game, and 2018 is no different. Their list of Netflix original shows is filled with variety, top talent, and actual good ideas.
The streaming service will premiere 18 new shows this year, thanks to their original content budget (almost $8 billion dollars) and we couldn’t be happier about it. Netflix is actually trying to make half of their library original shows and movies, and at the rate their going, it’ll happen in no time.
The new shows range from comedies, dramas and animated features. Check out some of them below (my personal top 5).
This animated series comes from the mind of Matt Groening. Groening rose to fame thanks to his popular show, The Simpsons. Not much is known about the show besides the small description on Netflix’s site. They describe the show by mentioning three characters: a princess, an elf and a demon.
Cary Fukunaga will direct this show for Netflix. The show stars Jonah Hill and Emma Stone. This reboot comes after the dark comedy was sold to Netflix in 2016. Hill and Stone lead in many prominent roles in Hollywood, so expect this one to be a fan favorite this year.
My Next Guest Needs No Introduction
David Letterman returns to the spotlight with a monthly talk show. The trailer features big names like Jay-Z, Tina Fey and president Barack Obama. Also, Letterman rocks a solid beard in the show. He can do no wrong. The show premieres January 12.
This animated series comes from Netflix and BBC One. It is based on a novel of the same name. John Boyega was named as a cast member. The show follows a group of rabbits in search of a new home.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
You should be excited about this. The Coen Brothers put their minds together once more for this new anthology western series. Six hour-long episodes will make their way to Netflix, starring James Franco and Zoe Kazan. This is their first television show, but it’s probably going to be amazing because Coen Brothers.
