The Black Panther soundtrack hit the streaming services Friday morning (and is also available in CD form for those of you who still like physical media), and it’s filled with star-studded talent. The album was produced by Top Dawg Entertainment and Kendrick Lamar. The Compton rapper wrote for all 14 tracks and performed on five songs.
Lamar is joined by go-to collaborators like SZA, ScHoolboy Q, and The Weeknd. Along with these artists, 2 Chainz, Ab-Soul, and Future also make appearances. If you enjoyed Lamar’s Grammy-winning album, DAMN., you’ll notice Zacari is back on a Lamar song. The two worked on 2017’s smash hit “LOVE.”
Also, you know Travis Scott had to have a song on the joint. He collabs with Lamar on “Big Shot,” which is my early pick for best song on the album.
Ahead of the soundtrack, Lamar debuted a music video for the lead single, “All The Stars,” which features SZA. I can’t rave enough about SZA’s CTRL album from 2017, and this track blends the two artists wonderfully. The video is also dope and can be seen below.
Black Panther hits theaters February 16. Secure your tickets cause I have a feeling this movie will be one of the most talked about films of the year.
