Hold on to your hats Paris Hilton fans because the original socialite and reality TV star looks set to have a documentary made about her life. The heiress to the Hilton Hotel Empire has certainly lived a varied life and much of it has taken place in front of the world’s media. However, according to 9.14 Pictures and XYZ Films, an “unflinching, authorized documentary” of Hilton’s life is currently in production and being offered to the highest bidders.
Using the Cannes Film Festival as the initial launch pad for the documentary, XYZ Films will handle the global sales of the piece, while Hilton herself will work as producer, alongside directors Don Argott and Sheena Joyce. Although the project is currently without a title, filming starts at the end of the summer in Ibiza and the main theme will be Hilton’s rise to fame. Told in her own words, the documentary will examine her ascent from unknown rich girl to international style icon, businesswoman, DJ and, of course, socialite.
Hilton has been massively influential in the world of reality TV. From Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian to Hilton’s co-star in the Simple Life, Nicole Richie, every aspiring socialite has taken some tips from Paris Hilton. Of course, a documentary about rich families and exclusive parties probably won’t set the box offices alight, but Hilton does have a few more strings to her bow, which the project will explore.
Hilton has Some Interesting Business Interests
Beyond her obvious links with the fashion world, Hilton is also a fan of casino games. Through her association with online gaming operator bgo Casino & Bingo, we now know that Hilton is a fan of rolling the dice and playing against the odds in games such as blackjack and roulette. In fact, as well as acting as brand ambassador for the company, the millionaire socialite is also on hand to update players on the latest happenings at bgo through the site’s official blog.
Reviewing everything from the latest casino games, to bgo’s favourite roulette wins, including Sir Philip Green’s £2 million win in London, Hilton’s association with the site is all part of the gambling industry’s recent revolution. Ever since gambling became an online endeavour, various sites have forged links with celebrities in order to make the industry more appealing to a younger demographic (18+). Indeed, while bgo has Hilton as a brand ambassador, Titanbet has ex-footballer John Barnes and BetVictor has a partnership with Chelsea Football Club.
Beyond Hilton’s links with the online betting world, she’s also (co)authored two books – Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose and Your Heiress Diary: Confess It All to Me – and released an album titled Paris.
Hilton the Headline Generator
However, when it comes to Hilton’s most prominent role in the public eye, it’s her ability to manipulate the media. Thanks to an in-depth knowledge of how the media works, Hilton is able to generate headlines almost at will. For example, on May 10 she hit the top of the Daily Mail’s TV & Showbiz section by announcing the sex of her sister’s child.
Whether or not she this was a genuine accident is almost irrelevant because it made the headlines and that’s something Hilton is highly skilled at doing. Whether it’s piece of Hollywood gossip, some leaked images or simply an appearance on a red carpet somewhere, Hilton knows exactly how to get the most out of the media and that’s why she’s seen as the ultimate ‘it girl’.
In fact, it’s this ability to generate headlines and build a thriving empire that should help to make the new Paris Hilton documentary a huge hit and something aspiring socialites could learn a thing or two from.
