It won’t be completed until 2019, but Disney unveiled a model of what the “Star Wars Land” expansion to Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios will look like at the D23 Expo.
Set on a new planet not seen in the films, the model looks like a mash-up of Mos Eisley from A New Hope and the rebel base in The Force Awakens.
It looks like it will be set during the current Star Wars films. Banners of the First Order can be seen around the town, and the spaceships are models of the newer designs.
Among the buildings will be full-sized replicas of classic ships, such as an A-Wing, X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and a piece of junk called the Millennium Falcon.
Covering an area of 14 acres, it will have restaurants, rides, markets, flight simulators, vehicles, droids, and alien characters from your favorite galaxy far, far away.
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek said that the land is Disney’s most ambitious and immersive experience ever built:
“To say we are excited for the Star Wars-themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement. All along, we have said this will be game-changing, and through the model we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be.”
I am one with the excitement, and the excitement is with me.
