Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed Looking to Turn Heads in ‘Venom’ Film

Seems like everyone these days is all Spiderman this and Spiderman that. The film franchise has seen three different incarnations in the past 15 years. To this I ask:

What about my boy Venom?

Venom, one of the most popular Spiderman villains has only popped up once. Venom made his big screen debut in Spiderman 3, but we don’t like to talk about that film.

Luckily for us, Venom is getting his own film.Tom Hardy is slated to play the symbiote supervillain Venom/Eddie Brock. According to Variety, Riz Ahmed, from last years highly successful, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is set to be in the film as well. His role hasn’t been revealed yet, but it is believed to be another popular Marvel character.

For those of you excited to see Tom Holland’s Spiderman make an appearance in this film, don’t be. Sony has made it clear that Venom will exist separately as a standalone. It has no tie ins with the new Spider-man universe.

Venom is tentatively set to be released on October 5th, 2018.
