Following an accident involving an autonomous Uber vehicle in Tempe, Arizona which resulted in the tragic death of 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg, reports indicated that the ride-hailing company has reached a settlement with the victim’s family.
While the terms of the settlement are not yet known to the public, Herzberg’s family’s lawyer, Christina Perez Hesano, reported to NPR that it has in fact been completed through an agreement between Uber and Herzberg’s husband and daughter.
Since the accident occurred earlier this month, Uber has completely revoked its autonomous vehicle project for the time being. In addition, Nvidia, a tech firm which provides Uber with technology for their autonomous vehicles, has suspended all road testing of their self-driving cars.
