Virgin Galactic will be unveiling the redesigned version of SpaceShipTwo on Feb. 19 at its Mojave Desert facility in California. The spaceship (yes, that’s what I’m calling it) will be able to take people to the far reach of the Earth and into space.
The spaceship is a remodel of the first SpaceShipTwo, which was involved in a fatal accident in 2014, killing one pilot and leaving another hospitalized.
George Whitesides, Virgin Galactic CEO, told Mashable in October,
“I think we are in a much better place than we might have expected in the period immediately after the accident, and that’s because our team came together, our customers stuck with us, and honestly, we believe that the vehicle itself is sound.”
To make things even more interesting, Richard Branson has invited famed theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking to the unveiling.
