What’s THE DEAL With That ‘Professor M’ Teaser That Played Before ‘Wonder Woman’?

Every once in a while, the trailers that play before a super major motion picture include a mysterious clip that gives audiences very little in the way of a plot synopsis or even a title. So it is at screenings of Wonder Woman, which have been playing this micro-teaser for something known as “Professor M.”

According to Annapurna Pictures, the studio behind the clip, Professor M (which might just be a code name) is “a superhero origin story unlike any other,” with a cast including Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall, Bella Heathcote, Connie Britton and Oliver Platt and direction from Angela Robinson (D.E.B.S., Herbie: Fully Loaded).

There is a Professor M website up that features a couple of comic book panels. Naturally, though, given the mystery, all the speech bubbles are empty.

Checking through IMDb, it appears that Professor M is most likely Professor Marston & the Wonder Women, a biopic about Dr. William Moulton Marston, the Harvard psychologist who invented the lie detector and created a certain comic book character known as Wonder Woman.

I know bits and pieces about Marston’s life (which is covered a fair amount in historian Jill Lepore’s book The Secret History of Wonder Woman), and he is quite the fascinating human being, easily worthy of his own biopic.

Details about the film are a little scarce now, but I imagine we will be keeping a close eye on this one, and you do not need that lasso to get me to tell you the truth this time.
