In the latest Motor Trend’s “World’s Greatest Drag Race,” the Tesla Model S P100 D faced several of the fastest cars on the market today. In this quarter-mile track, a Porsche 911 Turbo S and a Ferrari 488 GTB lost every race. The Tesla timed 10.5 seconds, 0.1 seconds less than its competitors.
With Tesla’s win, there remain speculations – if the race had gone on only a tad longer, the Porsche and Ferrari would have surpassed the Tesla, whose top speed limit is 155 mph. It is important to note the Tesla, the only electric car to compete, was also the heaviest in the race and is technically considered a “family sedan.”
The defeated Porsche has released plans for their first electric car – opening the possibility of their victory in the next Drag Race.
