In a surprising move, the New York Giants traded for Russell Wilson and signed wide receiver Dez Bryant. The former Super Bowl champion quarterback is faced with a difficult decision: stay at home in Seattle or leave his close friends to take on the “best” football team in America?
Russell Wilson is a quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks and has been rumored to be traded to the New York Giants. Dez Bryant, who plays for the Dallas Cowboys, weighed in on the rumor.

Since Colin Cowherd said on FS1 in 2019 that Russell Wilson may be headed to East Rutherford, Giants fans have held out a ray of hope that No. 3 could one day be lined up under center — even if it seemed unlikely.
While Daniel Jones’ efforts early in the season served to quiet comments about the club having to strengthen their quarterback position, a 0-5 start and four turnovers in Week 6 have reignited such discussions. Now, add in NFL Insider Jay Glazer’s (via Bleacher Report) prediction that Wilson would “a million percent” try to force his way out of Seattle this summer, and the inevitable fan speculation tying the eight-time Pro Bowler to Big Blue has started to gain traction on social media.
One such viewpoint drew the attention of former Dallas Cowboys wideout Dez Bryant, who reacted to a fan in a now-deleted tweet by weighing in on the likelihood of Wilson joining the Giants, as well as the team’s talent and the dubious coaching presently sitting in New York.
The Giants’ flaws make a move for Russ unlikely.
It’s debatable if it was merely a chance to throw some shade at his previous head coach, Jason Garrett, who has failed miserably as the Giants’ offensive coordinator. With that considered, it’s difficult to disagree with Bryant on this one. The team’s roster is certainly “gifted,” with 16 players who are either past first-round picks or have been chosen to the Pro Bowl.
The issue is that they haven’t adequately addressed the trenches, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. As a result, they haven’t been able to get the most out of their expensive/carefully crafted weaponry. With that in mind, Wilson is likely to avoid the Giants, particularly after years of being pummeled and wounded behind a Seahawks offensive line that has failed to protect its quarterback in the same way.
Wilson’s agent, Mark Rodgers, told ESPN in February that Wilson would entertain a trade to the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, or Las Vegas Raiders, for what it’s worth. The first two clubs are likely out of the market now that Dak Prescott is back to full health and the Bears have turned their offense over to rookie first-rounder Justin Fields. Both Jameis Winston and Derek Carr have showed potential this season for the Saints and Raiders, but it wouldn’t be surprising if either club considered trading off its starting in the summer, particularly with Jon Gruden’s departure from Vegas.
The Giants are back in the hunt for a quarterback.
According to Chris Roling of Bleacher Report, the Giants are among the six teams “most likely” to discover a new quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Yes, despite an excessive number of injuries to his supporting cast in year three, Jones has aesthetically progressed by leaps and bounds. If he wants to maintain his position under center, he’ll have to start putting Ws in the victory column at some point. If the Giants continue on their present path this season, GM Dave Gettleman will very certainly be fired, and Joe Judge will almost certainly be fired as well (a nearly unfathomable move entering this season).
If a new administration is installed, they will very probably seek to either sign or pick their candidate. Roling has narrowed down a few options with a projected top-five choice at his disposal.
“The Giants have until May 3 to determine whether or not to pick up Jones’ fifth-year option. “However, if they aren’t convinced on him as a long-term option and snag a top-five choice, it would make sense for them to choose the best passer on the board, whether it’s Matt Corral or Sam Howell of North Carolina,” the B/R writer said.
